Culture shock

Wed Dec 23, 2009, 3:35 AM
Update:
I saw Avatar in 3D yesterday. Didnt help that I'm long sighted so it took half an hour to get used to. Plus, Im used to focusing and unfocusing my eyes by myself so trying to stare at blurred parts of the screen was seriously weird and painful.
But 3D is pretty cool. And my first impression from when I saw it in 2D wasnt wrong - my love is renewed and I feel alot calmer.

Other than that, Its my birthday tomorrow :) I will be 17!

Is it possible to get culture shock from a movie?
I've just watched Avatar. What a great start to the holiday.

I rememeber the other day I was going through my 20 messages. All journals :) A quarter of them were reviews about Avatar and its brilliance.

Well let me tell you that they werent lying one bit.
Once you get over the freakin immense graphics that occur the whole way through the movie, you really sink in and love every aspect. I remember someone saying somewhere 'you could make every frame of this movie into a print' and they were spot on. Almost 3 glorious hours of action pacted brain dazzling brilliance.
Its only flaw is that it was flawless.
and because of how wonderful it is, there are alot more bad things too, things that have never happened to me before.
This culture shock for instance.
I know in my head that they are graphics, but I'm having trouble with that because theyre just so damned REAL - because it is the actors wearing facial receptors or something and bodies painted over graphically.
I actually feel ill from my brain overloading.
Were always seeking perfection and it just doesnt seem real because I couldnt find anything wrong with it.
Another thing is that Cameron has made it to be everything we aspire for with beauty, perfection and strength. He incorporates issues we have now about us destroying the planet with our technology. There are so many, perhaps too many things that I can relate to with this movie, some I couldnt mention without spoilering you all, that its just plain scary.

Alittle side note is that before now I've never ever wanted to work in the film industry. And I know I dont want to but this movie is so strongly inspiring that I began to think of the possibilities. Of course I came back to earth - I just dont think in 3D, I dont have imagination enough to be a designer really and what the hell is the chances of there being another 'Avatar', let alone me being part of it? There wont be! There hasnt been anything like this in my lifetime and I fear there wont be again for a long time... Im just so glad I was alive to see it. At the same time, it makes me feel like what I'm doing right now is worthless and pathetic. Child's play.

I dont think I have ever had to correct so many spellign mistakes in my life.
I feel really hollow and overfilled with different emotions right now...
I think I'll have a lye down.

and I have to see it all again in 3D on the 22nd... my first freakin time seeing something in 3D.
God save me.

Humans aren’t meant to be powerful. I thank the creator that he made us flawed so we never could be. We’re too naive, forever tempted to push the bounds of law. Not that we’re evil, but, I think, we tend to love some things too much.
